🧼 From Rock Bottom to Rebirth: Why I Started The Upcycled Soap Company

Sometimes, the most beautiful things are born from what we throw away.

The Upcycled Soap Company didn’t begin with a polished pitch or shiny business plan. It began during one of the hardest times in my life—when I was emotionally, spiritually, and physically burned out. I’d spent years bouncing from job to job, always feeling like I didn’t quite belong. I was tired of chasing work that didn’t align with my values and a system that didn’t seem to care.

Then, one day, while flipping through an old Tooheys New cookbook, I stumbled across a recipe for beer soap. It was quirky. Unexpected. And something in me lit up.

I had a vet bill to pay for my beautiful Border Collie, Bailey, and some over-fermented beer lying around. So I tried making a few bars. To my surprise, people loved them—not just for how they worked, but for what they represented.

That moment sparked what would become The Upcycled Soap Company—a place where passion, purpose, and sustainability collide.

🌱 What We Do

We don’t just make soap. We make statements.

Each bar is handcrafted using rediscovered resources—over-fermented beer, leftover wine, fruit peels, coffee grounds, and other by-products that would otherwise be tossed aside. We work with local businesses to give these materials a second life and turn them into something useful, beautiful, and kind to the planet.

Upcycled soap bars made with over-fermented beer, coffee grounds, and fruit peels.

Upcycled soap bars made with rediscovered ingredients.

We’re not here to greenwash or follow the crowd. We’re here to break the cycle of waste—and build something better.

šŸ’š What We Believe

  • Capitalism with Kindness
Our goal is to become a purpose-driven social enterprise—where people, planet, and creativity come first.
  • Circular Economy Love
We believe ā€œwasteā€ is just a resource waiting for a second chance.
  • Radical Transparency
No gatekeeping. No fluff. We share what goes into our soaps—and why.
  • Creative Courage
We believe business can be playful, weird, heart-led, and world-changing.
