Our Story
“Break the cycle. Build the circle.”
I didn’t start The Upcycled Soap Company with a big dream—I started it because my dog, Bailey, needed help.
He’s my Border Collie. My goodest boy. And when he needed urgent vet care, I was staring down a bill I couldn’t afford. So I did what anyone might do in a moment of panic and love—I started flipping through old cookbooks, hoping to bake or make something I could sell. That’s when I found it—in a Tooheys New cookbook of all places—a recipe for beer soap.
Out of desperation and curiosity, I gave it a go.
“I needed money. What I found was meaning.”
The soap worked. It lathered, it smelled amazing, and people loved it. But what really blew me away was how it made me feel. For the first time in a long time, I felt grounded. Creative. Alive.
I’d spent years going from job to job, never fitting in, always feeling like the odd one out. I wasn’t made for corporate cubicles or the daily grind. I wanted more. I wanted purpose. And that first bar of beer soap lit the spark.
“From a vet bill to a vision.”
After that, I started thinking bigger. What happens to all the over-fermented beer that breweries can’t use? Could we save it from going to waste? What else could we upcycle?
That’s how The Upcycled Soap Company was born—a place where nothing is wasted, and everything gets a second chance. Today, we partner with breweries, cafés, and local businesses to collect ingredients that would otherwise be thrown away—beer, wine, coffee grounds, citrus peels, herbs, and more—and turn them into small-batch soap that’s kind to your skin and even kinder to the planet.
“We don’t see waste. We see rediscovered resources.”
Every bar tells a story. Of resilience. Of reinvention. Of making something beautiful out of what’s been left behind.
Because this isn’t just soap.
It’s a stand against throwaway culture.
It’s a commitment to community and creativity.
And it’s proof that what feels like the end can actually be a brand new beginning.
“This isn’t just my business. It’s my way of saying: I’m here. I made something. I gave back.”
