A Message from Our Founder

Hi, I’m Lisa – founder of The Upcycled Soap Company.

When I first started making soap, I wasn’t setting out to build a business. I just needed to pay a vet bill for my beautiful dog, Bailey. I had a recipe, some old beer, and a big need for change. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this little experiment in the kitchen would lead to something much bigger—something circular, sustainable, and filled with purpose.

Like many people, I’ve had jobs that didn’t feel like they fit. I’ve worked in systems that didn’t feel human. I’ve been emotionally exhausted, spiritually disconnected, and burnt out by a world that often values productivity over people. But soapmaking—turning leftovers into something useful, beautiful, and honest—made sense to me. It became a way to care for myself, my community, and the planet in one deeply satisfying process.

Every bar we make is more than just soap. It’s a story about transformation: of waste into resource, burnout into creativity, and isolation into community. We reclaim tallow, over-fermented beer, wine, coffee grounds, and produce that would otherwise be discarded, and we give it new life in the form of nourishing, skin-loving bars. We work with local butchers, brewers, farmers, and cafés to build something circular—because the Earth doesn’t need more stuff, it needs better systems.

Our business is built on values that matter to me deeply: kindness, sustainability, transparency, and community. I believe business can be a force for good, and I’m proud to say we’re working toward becoming a registered social enterprise—so that our impact extends far beyond soap.

If you’ve found us, whether you're here out of curiosity, care, or coincidence—thank you. You're part of this story now. And I hope that in each bar you use, you feel a little bit of the love, resilience, and reimagining that started it all.

With gratitude,

Lisa Carroll
